I've been using the emastercam forum a lot.
But right now I just need to make the software do what I want. I plan to learn to edit the posts in the future. I believe our other programmers just haven't bothered to get with them on making the posts better. And our reseller may be more than capable. I'm used to having perfect posts from Esprit. How do I remove the solid history? So I basically create the solid, then remove the history before manipulating it in any way?Īs far as the posts go, that's a big problem here. As far as I understand though, I should be using Top WCS for all of it, and Front T/C for B0. As far as the planes go, unfortunately I do mostly horizontal programming, haha. Head over to and browse the forums there to learn about as much as there is to know about Mastercam.Īt the end of the day it’s just another tool that you’ll learn to get the most out of with enough practice.
The good thing about Mastercam is if you learn how to develop posts then you just become that much more valuable. Posts ultimately depend on how good your reseller is. With solids, make sure you remove the solid history before deleting or moving the wireframe or the solid itself as that will blow up your solid. So if you feel like it’s working against you you’re probably not alone. It may sound tedious but with enough practice you’ll figure out how to do it quickly and without wasted effort.įrom what I’ve heard Mastercam 2019 isn’t the most stable and there won’t be anymore updates until 2020 releases later this year, as far as I know. I’ll extract wireframe and surfaces and modify them to drive the tool exactly how I want. I don’t really have any experience with other CAM systems but I will say that I hardly use the solid directly for toolpaths. There are plenty of Mastercam users that would say they don’t like or understand why Mastercam’s plane system is the way it is, especially for horizontal programming. The plane system does take some time to get used, not gonna lie. It definitely has its drawbacks and some of the quirks about it (like the planes) will never change because they’re so deeply rooted Mastercam’s legacy. I won’t try to defend Mastercam like it’s the best CAM system ever. We have no CAD software, so I made a model with MC, and somehow, it just turned into a block and everything was lost. Today was just a particularly frustrating day. I can't seen to figure out how I get Esprit to be stock aware, as far as areas I've already machined. I also seem to lose random shit all the time, or get some warning about extruded thinwall features referring to my solids. With Esprit, once I had created the chain, I could use it again for 9 different things if I wanted. For instance, when I do an open pocket, I have to either draw some fake geometry out beyond the pocket, or meticulously pick each segment of the geometry to create my chain, which, it seems I always fuck up and have to start over. I used solid features for nearly everything. With Esprit, I hardly ever drew geometry anymore. (I have a 3DMouse, so I tend to float the model/drawing all over the place, kind of like tapping a pen or some other nervous tick.) If you are looking to post a job opening, our only requirement is that you post the salary or hourly wage of the job posting.īeing honest, a lot of it is probably that I don't know it yet.īut I don't like the plane system, and the fact that it changes on it's own when I rotate my view.
